Just came back from holiday in Rome, and apart from the many pizza, pasta, wine and ice cream; I managed to observe some nice hand crafted typography and lettering work on different materials and from (mostly) old and more recent eras.
Loved the variety, in texture, face, techniques… from very carefully hand carved text in stone, hand sewn calligraphic letter-forms, chaotic/damaged letter shapes, ornaments and mosaics to rusty metal modern type.
Even came across an old typographic workshop.
