Antalis-McNaughton has been sending out promotional mailers with postcards featuring their creative papers range. Each mail-out features a decade starting with the 30′s with each card highlighting notable events and creative work from this era, the front graphic of the postcard complement the historic information from the back and showcase different printing processes on various of their fine papers (including Popset, Rives and Curious).

GLitter ink greeting card

A few years back (2009!) GF Smith was sending out sample greeting cards to promote some of their paper. This one here was actually screen printed with glitter ink on 330gsm Plike. The inside was a text about seaside holiday. The unconventional texture of Plike combined with the glitter ink was striking.

M-real Zanders “World’s Foremost Paper Cultures” Issue 01: T2000

M-real Zanders is just launching its “World’s Foremost Paper Cultures” campaign, linking cultures with their papermaking history and traditions.

This is a new innovative and ‘educational’ initiative to make their range of speciality graphic papers (re-) discovered by the design, print and paper community. The complete series will feature ‘all’ Zanders graphic papers with different processes and finishing accompanied with their own technical/printing fact sheet.

The first edition take the lucky recipient of the mailer to Japan with Zanders T2000 with a fold-out flyer/poster featuring calligraphy and artwork printed in 2 colour. “T2000 … is to create new scope for creativity”.

All this will fit in a custom made portfolio box (to assemble yourself), printed with 3 PMS and 1 HKS colours on Zanders Zeta color, for a handy inspiring paper collection.

Colorplan from GFSmith is one of the most well know uncoated colour paper in the UK. It features an extensive collection of 56 colours, 8 weights and 25 embossings that will suite any application.

Not sure why the new swatch is missing the colour reference, but this is anyway one of the largest available range of uncoated colour paper, and it is now FSC certified.

(SEA Design usually designs the cool paper swatches, direct mail and other marketing materials for GFSmith)

Digital creative paper

Having been dropped by Arjowiggins paper stocks promotions (since it seems they are taking over the distributor James McNaughton), I have been handed a promotional booklet for their digital paper range.

A cool little book, designed by Blast, printed by the renowned Team and featuring artwork by John Ross, Eboy, Frost, Jeremy Tankard and other. A perfect little coffee table booklet featuring about 8 different digital stocks like a citrus yellow, metallic, smooth, embossed or Skin which reminds me of Plike (distributed by GFSmith or Raleigh in Australia).

All papers are FSC, ISO 9001/14001 and of recycled grade.

Zanders Spectral /T2000

Zanders Spectral is one of the few paper brand offering a wide choice of coloured tracing/translucent paper. Manufactured in Germany at the Zanders Reflex Mill, Spectral offers 13 colours and 2 shades of white (snow & blizzard).

Available colours: cream, light green, light blue, blue, pink, mauve, red, orange, golden yellow, yellow, poison green, dark green, black

White shades: white & high white

Since recently – 1 or 2 years ago – Zanders updated the colour range but also added a Special range to Spectral, a range of 3 white translucent stock with pigment/pattern effects finish: dots, squares & lines.

The Spectral range is available in 100 and 200gsm, while Special is only produced in 100gsm.

Alternatively, Zanders proposes the T2000 range, a white tracing paper. This range of translucent paper stock is available in a wider range or weights, from 80gsm to 200gsm.

All Sprectral, Special and T2000 are FSC and PEFC certified and come with matching envelopes and is distributed in the UK by James McNaughton.

Today in the mail

Another parcel from House Industries, this one I was impatient about. A couple of weeks ago, House Industries got some new men Ampersand Tee printed and I finally been able to order one!

The Tee features a big bright yellow ligature Ampersand, House Industries’ ‘landmark’ glyph, all nicely printed on a black (cotton) t-shirt.

In the package with this gorgeous piece of apparel, was the House Industries’ catalogue issue 59. This time with a purple jacket which actually match pretty closely the Cordovan colour of the Jersey Cover stock talked about previously (this might not have been such a bad guess originally…).

Also included, some cool House stickers, and a promotional foldout poster/brochure, printed 3 colours + metallic gold on 1 side and full colour + metallic gold on the inside, all on a linen textured stock. This foldout promotes the range of products inspired by the work of Alexander Girard, a designer once involve in fabric pattern to 3D design.

Cromático, -ca.®

I have always had a fascination for translucent/tracing papers, probably because I have always loved beautiful colours and light working together…

I recently came across the family of paper Cromático, -ca.® by Thibierge & Comar, a French paper mill. They manufacture a collection of translucent papers in 15 shades and 8 weights with matching envelopes. The collection includes, Extra White a white translucent paper, Transparent, a clear translucent stock and 13 beautiful colours.

On top of this, the stock is FSC certified, and apparently dries faster than other translucent papers…

Also available, TransWhite, a clear tracing paper in 8 different weights.

Thibierge & Comar also has 4 other collections, Evanescent (pearlescent papers), Dentelle (translucent papers with motifs), CANEVAS (herringbone pattern) and Nantucket (laid paper).
